Martinjak will fight Brad Scott at BYB 33 Wolverhampton Brawl and the BYB Super Cruiserweight Police Gazette Diamond title will be on the line. Learn how to watch below:
We spoke with Martinjak about the upcoming title fight.
The belt collector
The Police Gazette belt is as historic as far as prize fighting goes. From John L. Sullivan and reborn in the modern day, the title is what all of the bare knuckle fighters want to fight for these days. Marko Martinjak has pulled a hat trick when it comes to the historied belt.
“Fighting for Police Gazette World Titles for me is everything. I have two Diamond World belts and one Double Diamond belt for first man trilogy in bare knuckle.”
Understandably, Martinjak is proud of that accomplishment. Having competed in boxing proper as of late, Martinjak believes that bare knuckle has helped his regular boxing as well. Simply wanting to compete, Martinjack says that the experience in bare knuckle and boxing as well as kickboxing and Muay Thai, all works together for him.
“I am a different fighter from the guy who had his last pro boxing fight in 2018. Bare knuckle made me tougher for regular boxing. My boxing background serves me very good in bare knuckle. People forget that I fought in kickboxing and Muay Thai so the clinch game is not unknown to me.”
Marko Martinjak and Brad Scott, a banger of a fight
Marko Martinjak has not been perfect thus far. But his 11-2 record is enough to grab him Police Gazette three titles. Martinjak has learned from those two losses.
“I learned that I never underestimate opponent because if I didnt do that we woudnt have first man trilogy in history.”
Brad Scott, Martinjak’s opponent at BYB 34: Wolverhampton Brawl, has a fair bit of UFC experience. With a 3-5 record with the promotion, much of the talk about the fight was Scott’s experience in MMA. Marko Martinjak believes that MMA experience really doesn’t matter to bare knuckle.
“We don’t wrestle and we don’t kick so why does everybody talk about his UFC career? This is different sport, this is more violent than boxing, but it’s not boxing and not MMA. I have high confidence because I am on a 4 fight win streak in bare knuckle. I am 10 wins with 10 knockouts in bare knuckle.”
Tuning in for Marko Martinjak and Brad Scott is a no brainer according to the Croatian champion. “Every time I step up in the ring or Trigon the fans can always see me much improved, better, and more ready.”
