Helen Peralta: “I felt like the headbutt was intentional.”
Peralta-Mota II at BYB 37 will be for the vacant BYB Super Featherweight Police Gazette Diamond Belt.
After an accidental clash of heads, Helen Peralta vs. Lailane Mota at BYB 24 was ruled a no contest.
That ended Peralta’s perfect bare knuckle record. Now at BYB 37, “Iansã” looks to put that rivalry behind her. Peralta and Mota are finally rematching after their no contest in February 2024. This time, it’s personal for the BYB Featherweight champ who looks to add the Super Featherweight strap to her collection against her Brazilian foe.

Helen Peralta: Becoming Queen
Helen Peralta has overcome much in her life. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, she’s eventually found her way to, not only bare knuckle boxing, but the pinnacle of the sport. When she captured the title in July, defeating Monica Medina in New Orleans, she became the BYB Featherweight champion.
“It felt amazing,” Peralta said. “I had to overcome so many obstacles. Getting my hand raise felt like a blessing.”
And a blessing it was. In her fight before that, Peralta was coming off of a four-year layoff. In what was supposed to be a return, Peralta’s comeback was brought to a halt. She didn’t lose, but an accidental head clash was certainly not how she envisioned coming back.
Helen Peralta felt like that clash of heads was not accidental, as is listed online. “I felt like the headbutt was intentional and I’m going to make her pay for that s***.”
Improvement and restoring the universe
Regardless of the first fight, Helen Peralta is ready to right the previous wrong. She’s beat fighters like Christine Ferea. Since that bare knuckle stint, the 36-year-old competed extensively in mixed martial arts. When she returned to bare knuckles, she’s improved leaps and bounds.
Peralta is looking to change things up from her first fight with Lailane Mota and have a different outcome.
“Yes, it has changed. This time, I don’t want to stay in the pocket. And I’m not going to play with my food.”
Why watch? This fight has fireworks in it by nature. Peralta is looking to change the past by correcting her mistakes and righting the wrongs from the first fight.
“They should tune in to watch the universe be restored to balance.”
