With BYB 32 upon us, Harry Gigliotti is ready for war. Joe Fitzpatrick is his opponent and Gigliotti has a huge task ahead of him. Fitzpatrick has a 10-1 boxing record and has gone 3-1 in bare knuckle boxing. Now, “The Hitman” sees an opportunity to take a huge leap forward this weekend in Leeds.
Harry Gigliotti will fight Joe Fitzpatrick at BYB 32: Leeds Brawl. Learn how to watch below:
A new era of bare knuckle boxing
With the recent merger of BYB Extreme and the UK based BKB, that’s all the rage in the BYB world right now. Many unifications between the champions between BYB and BKB are happening and Gigliotti couldn’t be more excited.
“The merger of BYB and BKB into a super promotion is an exhilarating development for the world of bare knuckle fighting. As a fighter, I couldn't be more thrilled about the future. This partnership raises the bar significantly, creating more opportunities for competition and allowing the promotion to grow and expand into something truly remarkable.”
Harry Gigliotti continues saying that the new chapter between the two companies is going to be a bright future for BYB.
“With both promotions combining their strengths, we can expect a more dynamic environment that not only enhances the level of competition but also broadens the reach of bare knuckle fighting. This is a pivotal moment that promises to elevate the sport and provide fans with even more thrilling matchups. The potential for innovation and growth is immense, and I am eager to see how this new chapter unfolds. Together, we are stepping into a future filled with exciting possibilities!”
Welcome back to the Trigon!
Now in the Trigon full time, Gigliotti is ready to fight in the most unique fighting surface in combat sports. Having fought boxing in 2021, Gigliotti believes that experience there had helped his transition from boxing to bare knuckle boxing in the Trigon.
“Fighting in the Trigon has become increasingly comfortable for me, especially as I approach my third bare knuckle fight. Initially, I felt a bit shy about the unique setup, but my experience in Triller’s Triad Combat back in 2021 helped me transition smoothly. That opportunity allowed me to get my foot in the door and gain a competitive edge over many of my opponents.”
Transitioning to bare knuckle boxing was a large task for Gigliotti. But with two fights under his belt, the Haverville, Massachusetts native feels he has a wrap (pun intended) on his new frontier that is bare knuckle boxing.
“Now that I'm fully accustomed to fighting without gloves, I have a much better understanding of how to leverage my power without risking injury to my hands. The Trigon has truly become my second home, alongside the traditional boxing ring. Each fight in the Trigon further solidifies my confidence and passion for this sport!”
His opponent, Joe Fitzpatrick, is a battle tested veteran in his own rights. He fought Liam Rees, who is one half of BYB 32’s main event, in 2023. But Gigliotti believes his bare knuckle experience trumps Fitzpatrick’s boxing experience.
“Competing against higher level opposition at a professional level than Fitzpatrick will be a major advantage on October 12th, especially since we both have equal experience in bare knuckle fighting. While he has a strong amateur pedigree, facing top opponents like Gervonta Davis and earning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games, I’m focused on proving my own excellence.”
Doubling down on his skills, Harry Gigliotti says he’s come far and becomes a better fighter every day. With the BYB Super Lightweight Police Gazette Diamond belt on the line, that is all the motivation Gigliotti needs to keep himself going.
“I’ve trained and competed with some of the best in the world, allowing me to adapt to various styles. I believe my work ethic and technical skills surpass his, and I’m excited to showcase that in the trigon. On fight night, I aim to demonstrate my preparation and experience, making my capabilities as a world champion more than clear!”
Boxing or bare knuckle boxing?
The sport of boxing under the Queensberry rules, IE traditional boxing, is a peculiar sport. Some are there to make money and work their way to the top of the sport. Some are cannon fodder for these fighters. Some, like Harry Gigliotti, are looking to test themselves. This played a part in his switch from boxing, where he held an impressive 10-1 record, to bare knuckle boxing.
"I decided to switch from boxing to bare knuckle fighting due to a lack of effective management in my early career. I took some big risks, choosing to compete rather than build my record through just stepping stones. For me, bare knuckle represents a new beginning and a modern era of gladiatorial blood sport.”
The growth of bare knuckle boxing has been meteoric. Once a huge sport done away by governmental regulation, the sport of bare knuckle boxing is back. It’s a great opportunity for fighters who look for a bit more of a dog fight. Gigliotti sees the growth of the sport in recent years and is encouraged on the future of the sport.
“I’m excited to be part of the growth of this sport and to help pioneer a new wave of fighting. Coming from four generations of boxing is incredible, but I relish the opportunity to carve out my own path as one of the first to compete in bare knuckle boxing, especially as I aim to inaugurate the first ever super lightweight world title.”
His opponent at BYB 32 is a tough one and a title on the line will get both Gigliotti and Joe Fitzpatrick to fight with more fervor. Gigliotti is planning a calculated attack to take home the coveted Police Gazette title.
“Joe Fitzpatrick definitely brings something different to the table. While I fought an eight fight bare knuckle veteran in my last match, he has faced opponents with more bare knuckle experience. I've studied his fights and noticed that he makes several mistakes, which I plan to capitalize on to break him down.”
As for how it comes, Gigliotti doesn’t care. It’s all about the dub. “My primary goal is to win, but I see any outcome beyond that whether it’s a decision or a TKO/KO as a bonus. I'm prepared to exploit his weaknesses and showcase my skills in the trigon!”
So why tune in? Why take time out of your day to see this barn burner of a fight? The sell is pretty easy and Harry Gigliotti boils it down succinctly.
“I’m bringing nothing but fireworks to the Leeds, England. My goal is to entertain, and I’m determined to bring that world title home for everyone who supports me day in and day out. This fight is for all my friends, family, and sponsors who always show me love. You won’t want to miss it!”
