Modern day gladiators
Dan Podmore loves to be violent. He starts things off saying just that. “Big Pod” sees himself as a modern day gladiator who loves to test himself as a fighter.
“I'm always excited to fight, I'm always excited to inflict pain and damage to another man. Just like the gladiators of old, we love to test myself against other men.”
Training for BYB 33 has been the same as usual for the England-born fighter. Focusing on continuous improvement, Podmore is constantly in training and becoming a better fighter.
“I'm preparing well for this fight. Training hard, training smart, and getting in the necessary technical improvements that I need to win. As I always do, I never stop learning."
Dan Podmore running it back
Dan Podmore vs. Ryan Barrett is a rematch from a fight in 2022. The two first took each other on in BKB and are now locked in to fight under the new banner of BYB. Podmore respects Barrett but doesn’t think he has what it takes to beat him and will be out to prove that again November 9th.
“The only way Ryan and I are similar is that we both love violence. But when push comes to shove and things get tough, is Ryan prepared to go into to the trenches with myself once more? That, we'll find out.”
Podmore is as decorated as it gets in the sport of bare knuckle. The BYB Police Gazette title for Bridgerweight will be a great addition to his collection.
“There is no other option for me but to win. So the BYB Police Gazette belt is going to look amazing next to my other 5 bare knuckle titles I've won. I believe in myself and believe that my hand will be the one that's raised.”
Knowing how great and violent the first fight was, Dan Podmore says that this fight will be more of the same. He and his team have been in the lab and he believes this will be the best version of himself to date.
“If anybody tuned in to the first fight, then they'll definitely want to tune it to the 2nd, it's gonna picked up from where it left off. Except there will more speed, power and technical skill. The things we've been working in the gym with my coach, Mike Connelly, there's not many that will be able to stop what I've got to show.”
Podmore wants more. He wants the big fights. He wants to fight in his home of the UK and in the USA. The rematch with Ryan Barrett will be the next step in that goal.
“I've alway been in exciting fights and this will be no different. I want those big fights abroad in the States/Europe etc. So this will just solidify my spot as one of the best in the world.”
